Running the Leeds Liverpool Canal - 25.08.19 - 30.08.19

This is one of the challenges that I have been looking forward to ALL year! I just love the idea of knowing that my only focus this week, will be to wake up and just run, day after day, I cannot wait!

Again, I’m writing this at the end of July with deep heat thick on my ankle. I’m absolutely gutted that I’ve got something wrong at the moment, but I’ll be doing everything I can to get my ankle better before this challenge as I will be completing it no matter what, even if that means I have to walk/jog the entire distance.

The canal is 127 miles in total. I will be starting this epic run on Sunday 25 August over at Liverpool Docks. I’ve never been to Liverpool so it’ll be good to have a bit of a wander about before the challenge officially begins. I’m sort of going in blind, in terms of not knowing the nooks and crannies, or if there will be any detours etc. But I’m seeing this as an extra element to the challenge. I’m also looking forward to seeing the different scenery and the five locks at Bingley.

The idea is to run about 21 miles a day for six days. The accommodation is booked every night and I’ll be sure to pack my foam rollers (yes, plural) and those spiky balls for the evenings. Yet again, I need to say a massive thank you to my mum and dad for using a week of their annual leave to support me again. I couldn’t do it without you both!

I will definitely be documenting the run, probably to the point where it’ll get annoying. I’m hoping that the weather will be kind to me but either way, weather or ankle related issues, have no fear, I will be completing the challenge!

If you’re about on Friday 30 August at the end of the canal in Leeds, come along and say hi!
